A high-level hotel in the heart of Milan, two steps from the Galleria, and the best place to start a visit to the city in December.

Park Hyatt Milano is one of the addresses that define hospitality in Milan. The building has a character of its own, and the hotel keeps its interiors clean and modern, with a very Milanese sense of proportion. Two steps from the Galleria and the shops of the Quadrilatero, it is the kind of place from which the city is simply walkable. The renovation ended in 2022. In 2024, to mark twenty years of activity, the hotel opened three new Signature Suites. The restaurant sits in its original courtyard, under the glass dome.

I stayed in a Park Deluxe King in December, when the hotel is dressed for Christmas.

Arrival

The room

The room is functional and of a high standard: a king bed, bedside lamps and a clean, modern furnishing that lets the building speak first. The bathroom is where the stone is most imposing. The marble vanity and the walls carry through to a walk-in shower and a bath.

The breakfast room

The glass cupola over the restaurant lights the room below it, and during the day the same room serves lunch. I had breakfast there for two, as the rate includes, and the light coming down through the glass is what I remember of the morning.

The bar

Mio Lab is the hotel's cocktail bar, and it works at both ends of the evening: for an aperitivo before dinner and for a drink after it. The hotel describes it as one of the best cocktail bars in Milan. I cannot judge that against the rest of the city, but I had an Americano there, served with a slice of orange over the ice. The marble counter runs under a ceiling of golden pendant lamps.

The spa

I went to see the spa, AQVAM, and did not book a treatment, so these photographs are of the spaces only.

The city

The position is a large part of the stay. The Galleria is a short walk, and the shops of the Quadrilatero are around the same corner. The Duomo and the La Scala are within walking distance too. The Christmas lights in the Galleria are the first thing you can walk to from the door.

Is it worth it?

The breakfast for two and the position near the Galleria and the Quadrilatero are the two parts of the stay I would point to. The spa is worth a visit, and a treatment should be booked before you arrive. The decorations are the reason to come in December.

Where it is

Before you book

The questions people send me about Park Hyatt Milano.

Is it a business hotel?
It works well for business, and it is a hotel of the city for anyone who stays in it. The Galleria and the shops of the Quadrilatero are a few steps away, so a visit to the centre starts at the door. Choose it for the business side if you need that, and for the city if you do not.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, under the Hyatt Privé rate, for two people. I had it. The main breakfast room sits under the glass dome, and by day the same room serves lunch.
Is the spa worth the time?
I cannot say, because I went to look at it and did not book a treatment. If the treatments matter to your stay, book one before you arrive and judge it yourself.
What is the hotel like in December?
Dressed for Christmas throughout. There are bows and lights on the facade, bears and trees in the lobby, and a tree under the cupola of the restaurant.
