Privacy
What happens to what you send me.
Short, because this site does very little. There is no analytics on Wheresnik, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no cookie is set when you read a page, which is why you have never been asked to dismiss a banner here.
Every photograph, every stylesheet and both typefaces are served from this domain, so opening a page here sends your details to nobody at all. The one place you hand me something is the enquiry form, and this page says what happens to it and who touches it on the way.
Who is responsible
Nicola Lucchi, who writes Wheresnik and answers its post, in Italy. I am the data controller for everything described on this page, and the only person with access to it. Write to nik@wheresnik.com about any of it and the reply comes from me.
What the form collects
Four things, and only once you decide to send them: your name, your email address, the line about where and when you want to travel, and your message. That is the whole form. There is also a field kept hidden from you that catches automated submissions, and a timestamp doing the same job, and both are thrown away without being read.
If you write to me by email, I have whatever you put in the message, and everything below applies to that in the same way.
Why I have it, and on what basis
To answer you, and where a stay follows, to arrange it. When you are asking me about a hotel, the basis is the steps taken at your own request before any agreement between us, Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation. When you are writing to me about something else, it is my legitimate interest in answering my own correspondence, Article 6(1)(f).
There is no mailing list on this site and I will not put you on one. What you send is used to reply to you and for nothing further.
Who else sees it
Two services carry the message and no others. The site runs on Cloudflare, which serves these pages and routes the mail for this domain. The form itself is delivered by Resend, which sends what you wrote to my own address. From there it sits in my mailbox. Nothing is written to a database at any point, here or at either of them, which is why there is no stored copy for anybody to lose.
Both companies are in the United States, so your message passes through them on its way to me, under the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission for exactly that.
When a booking follows, the hotel and Classic Travel are given what they need to hold it and nothing beyond, and I tell you at the time what that is. Classic Travel is a separate agency with its own systems, so for the reservation it holds it answers for its own handling and not through me.
How long I keep it
An enquiry stays in my mailbox while we are talking, and for two years after the last message, which is about how long it takes for somebody to come back and want the same island again. Then it goes. If you would like it gone sooner, ask me and it is gone the same day.
What you can ask me to do
You can ask for a copy of what I hold, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to stop using it, and ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Write to nik@wheresnik.com. I answer personally, within a month at the outside and usually the same week.
If you think I have handled something badly, you can take it to the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali in Rome, or to the supervisory authority in the country where you live.
Cookies
There are none. No cookie is set by this site for any purpose, including the analytical ones that most sites set before asking. Nothing is kept in your browser's storage either. If that ever changes, this page changes first and before it happens.
