Book with Nik

Two ways to travel with me. Neither one costs you more.

A hotel's own website is rarely the best way to book it. Two people can hold the same room, on the same dates, for the same money, and one of them has breakfast every morning, a credit to spend at dinner and a room on a better floor. The difference is who placed the booking.

The price is the hotel's own

I book the published rate, the one you see on the hotel's site, including prepaid and promotional rates at most properties. A preferred-partner agency has no separate price list, and nothing is added for going through one.

Breakfast and a credit are already in it

Full breakfast for two every morning. A credit to spend on dinner, the spa or whatever the house counts. An upgrade when one is free at check-in, and early arrival or late departure when the day allows. The hotel adds these because of the agency's standing with the group.

You never pay me anything

The hotel pays a commission to Classic Travel on a stay that actually happens, and I am paid out of that. It costs you nothing, it changes nothing about your rate, and it is the reason everything on this site is free to read.

Someone who has slept in the room

I inspect the hotels I send people to. When I name a room category, a floor or a table, it is because I have had it. Five notes from every stay are public on this site. The rest I keep for the people who travel with me.

Write to me

Arranged by hand

Tell me the occasion, the dates and who is travelling. I come back with one or two properties, the room I would take in each, the week I would choose, and the notes that stay off the site. In English, Italian or Spanish.

Write to me

Tell me where you want to be.

The place, the month, who is travelling, and what the trip is for. I come back with one or two properties, the room I would take in each, and the notes that stay off the site. In English, Italian or Spanish, usually within a day.

Or write straight to nik@wheresnik.com.

What you write reaches me by email and is kept in no database. What happens to it.

The agency behind the booking

Wheresnik books with

New York · Since 1982 · Virtuoso member

Wheresnik is an independent affiliate of Classic Travel, at 260 Madison Avenue in New York, working from that address since 1982. The preferred-partner agreements with the hotel groups are theirs, and that is what puts the benefits on your booking. The reservation is placed with the hotel through that channel, and the hotel charges you. I take no payment and I add no fee of my own. What I do is choose the property, the room and the timing, and stay on the booking from the first email until you check out.

How it works

Plain answers to the questions people ask.

Who takes my card? The hotel at check-out, or Classic Travel's secure portal for a prepaid rate. Payment details never pass through me and I never hold them. The reservation is in your name.

Can I check the price myself? Please do. Open the hotel's own site, find the rate for your dates, and compare. If what I quote is higher, tell me and I will explain the difference or match it.

I have already booked. Is it too late? Often it is not. A reservation made directly with the hotel on a flexible rate can usually be moved into the programme, with the benefits added and the price unchanged. Send me the confirmation and I will ask.

What if I already have a Classic Travel account? Write to me and I will have it linked to Wheresnik, so your next booking carries the benefits without starting again.

How long do you take to answer? Usually within a day. I answer personally, and I am in Europe, so a message sent in the American evening lands on my morning.
